30 out of 450 teams of young innovators from across Thailand made it through to the final round of GPSC Young Social Innovator Season 4 via the Zoom online meeting platform. The green energy innovator finalists, who will compete for a chance to win the H.R.H Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn’s Trophy, will be announced later early next year.

Today (18 September 2021), Mr. Worawat Pitayasiri, President and Chief Executive Officer of Global Power Synergy Public Company Limited or GPSC, the innovative power flagship of PTT Group, revealed that the company has held the GPSC YSI Camp as part of the GPSC Young Social Innovator 2021 for the fourth consecutive year under the concept of “Sustainable Energy, Natural Resource and Environment” via the Zoom online meeting platform. Over 450 projects were submitted by upper secondary and vocational students from educational institutions across Thailand under three categories, namely Product, Invention, and Process and Service, and 30 of which have qualified for the second round. The competition provides a stage for young innovators to explore their unique and impressive creativity and create something that can be further developed and applied in a concrete and practical manner to enhance the quality of life of those in the community.

The 30 teams who have entered the second round from six regions include three teams from central Thailand, one team from the west, five teams from the east, nine teams from the northeast, six teams from the south, and six teams from the north, with 12 projects under the Product category, ten under the Invention category, and eight under the Process and Service category. All 30 teams are required to complete their projects according to the specified guidelines and submit them for the final round competition, whose results are expected to be announced in early 2022.

The first prize winner will receive the H.R.H Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn’s Trophy and a chance to enter the team’s project in international competitions. Winners in each of the three categories will receive a certificate and a scholarship of 50,000 baht, and the rest of the finalists will be presented with medal awards and certificates from GPSC.

The contest’s past winners have not only made a name for Thailand by winning more than 14 awards from international contests including the Seoul International Invention Fair, the World Invention Innovation Contest, the International British Innovation Exhibition (IBIX) 2020 but have also successfully put their projects into good and practical use, benefiting community residents and the society.
