Glow SPP 2 Company Limited, one of GPSC’s subsidiaries, signed a contract with Jurong Engineering Limited (Singapore) and Thai Jurong Engineering Limited for the construction of a 96 MW SPP replacement project. The new facility, which is worth approximately four billion baht, will be constructed on the new plot near the existing plant in the Map Ta Phut Industrial Estate in Rayong Province. The plant’s commercial operation is expected to commence in the first half of 2024, maintaining the existing cogeneration capacity.

Mr. Worawat Pitayasiri, President and Chief Executive Officer of Global Power Synergy Public Company Limited or GPSC, the innovative power flagship of PTT Group, disclosed that Glow SPP 2 Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of GPSC, signed an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Contract (EPC) for a Small Power Producer (SPP) Power Plant with Jurong Engineering Limited (Singapore) and Thai Jurong Engineering Limited. The 4-billion-baht plant in the Map Ta Phut Industrial Estate will have 2 units with a capacity of 48 MW each, or a total capacity of 96 MW and is expected to begin commercial operation in the first half of 2024.

The construction of the facility will take two years, commencing in the second quarter of 2022, and is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2024. The Power Purchase Agreements were signed with EGAT (Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand), and total 60 MW of electricity will be sold to EGAT under the 25-year SPP replacement project, and the remaining 36 MW and 230 tons per hour of steam from the power generation process will be sold to industrial clients in the Map Ta Phut area.

The Company takes all concerns including changing of economic factors, business environment and market conditions, and determines the appropriate capacity of electricity and steam to replace the old power plants which will be reached the end of useful life. This project is a gas-fired cogeneration power plant using advanced technology. Glow SPP2 will generate electricity and steam efficiently supplied products with reliability and availability to EGAT and industrial customers in the Map Ta Phut area, Rayong Province and provide stability for the country's power generation system as well as being environmentally friendly.
