GPSC, the innovative power flagship of PTT Group, continues to invest in clean energy innovations with an intention to serve the trendy concept of Green World and to overcome the challenges of global warming. Accordingly, the company has launched “GPSC GREENOVATION STARTUP SANDBOX PROGRAM”, searching for green startups to jointly ignite the ideas of sustainable energy business, which will be tested for practical use in the Sandbox of TRUE DIGITAL PARK. This is to emphasize the company’s policy to become one of the top three leaders of sustainable energy innovation in ASEAN.

Dr. Rosaya Teinwan, Executive Vice President - Business Development, of Global Power Synergy Public Company Limited, revealed that, at present, global warming has become such a vital issue and a global challenge that every country pays attention to it. The 26^th Conference of the Parties of United Nations Framework Climate Change Convention (COP 26) in 2021 set a goal for every country to reduce greenhouse gas emission to zero (Net Zero) by 2050. This is corresponding to the Thai government’s national energy plan, Carbon Neutrality, in which the more emphasis is placed on clean energy with the target to reduce carbon dioxide, which causes greenhouse gas emission, to zero, within 2022-2027. Accordingly, it can be clearly seen that the global energy trend is turning towards the development of more clean energy.

“As an innovative power flagship and smart energy of PTT Group, which operates its power business based on clean energy and renewable energy innovations for sustainability in Thailand, GPSC has established a goal to become one of the top three leading companies in sustainable energy innovation in ASEAN by increasing the investment in clean energy or green energy, referring to the total power generation capacity of the company in the next 10 years or by 2030, so that it accounts for more than 50% of the company's investment portfolio. Meanwhile, the company is committed to creating innovations of energy and power business, including renewable energy and energy storage system (ESS) based on SemiSolid technology, which can be further extended to the businesses of electric vehicle (EV), batteries, digital power plants and other relevant businesses. This can be regarded as the creation of sustainable business growth corresponding to the changes of the world.”

GPSC continues its commitment to create energy innovations by launching "GPSC GREENOVATION STARTUP SANDBOX PROGRAM", inviting startups and the new generations to showcase their works under the concept of innovation for environment; and then their business feasibility will be further extended through Startup Sandbox of TRUE DIGITAL PARK. The project offers an opportunity to the new generations to ignite the ideas of sustainable energy business under the theme “How can we enhance our society with accessible clean energy innovations?” The objective of this program is to maintain the balance of energy sources and environmental friendliness, to benefit the world, and to realize the lifestyle of the new generations in the future.

Mr. Somchai Klinsuwanmalee, CSR Division Manager of Global Power Synergy Public Company Limited or GPSC, said “GPSC GREENOVATION STARTUP SANDBOX PROGRAM” is considered a strategy to create innovations that can bring about sustainability in the future and, at the meantime, preserve natural resources and the environment. It is expected that the participating teams will present creative ideas about innovative businesses that are beneficial not only to the world but also to the society, like those that can improve the quality of life and generate income for others in the society. This project is under the corporate social responsibility (CSR) of GPSC, and the established CSR strategies are divided into 4 main areas, i.e., 1. Access to energy for all 2. Good quality of life 3. Preservation of natural resources and environment in a sustainable manner, and 4. Creation of innovations for sustainability.

Dr. Patti Boonyasukanon, Business Development Manager, Innovation and Technology Division of Global Power Synergy Public Company Limited or GPSC, said the global energy trend is heading towards the use of clean energy and alternative energy. Correspondingly, GPSC is also seeking and applying energy innovations to create better quality of life, better society and better environment, in accordance with the operation of the whole organization and of the country in the long run.

The startups joining the program and then selected as the final three winners in the competition will be eligible to participate in “GPSC GREENOVATION STARTUP SANDBOX PROGRAM”, in which the period is 3 months, from 1 August to 5 November 2022. Thereby, each team will receive 150,000 baht as a budget for developing potential and ideas to be used in the business development. In addition, the members of all three teams are entitled to use the co-working space at TRUE DIGITAL PARK throughout the period, including participation in the workshop with leading gurus and mentors’ advice that can be used to support and expand their business.

The program is considered a major flagship project to search for startups in Thailand with energy innovations that can be put in practical use.
