GPSC, CHPP, EXIM Bank, TGO, and NEO have reached an agreement to partner up on an investment in solar rooftop, carbon credit registration and certification under the comprehensive Solar Orchestra project, which includes installation technology, sources of funding, and carbon credit trading. The project will not only accommodate clean energy-oriented entrepreneurs who would like to keep up with the global trends in reducing costs and benefiting from carbon credits but will also open doors for future business opportunities. The project’s capacity is expected to exceed 100 MW by the end of 2022.

Mrs. Rosaya Teinwan, Executive Vice President - Business Development of Global Power Synergy Public Company Limited or GPSC, the innovative power flagship of PTT Group, revealed that on 15 October 2021, a Memorandum of Understanding signing ceremony was held between five parties, namely GPSC, Combined Heat and Power Producing Company Limited (CHPP), Export-Import Bank of Thailand (EXIM Bank), Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization Public Company Limited (TGO), and Neo Clean Energy Company Limited (NEO) to carry out the Solar Orchestra project, which will encourage Thai entrepreneurs to invest in solar rooftop and apply for carbon credit registration and certification under the Thailand Voluntary Emission Reduction (T-VER) Program to be able to receive and trade carbon credits. The Solar Orchestra project’s solar rooftop capacity is expected to reach beyond 100 MW by the end of December 2022.

The cooperation is divided into the five following areas: GPSC, as the power flagship of PTT Group, will provide the body of knowledge regarding electrical energy and renewable energy to Thai entrepreneurs, CHPP, GPSC’s wholly-owned subsidiary, will be the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contractor for solar rooftop installation for the project’s participants to ensure international standards are met, EXIM Bank will offer financial services to interested businesses to encourage clean energy use, which will help reduce energy costs and improve export competitiveness, TGO, in keeping with the global trends, will facilitate the carbon emission reduction efforts in terms of T-VER registration and issuance of T-VER credits, which will not only benefit Thai business owners but will also help the country achieve net zero emissions by 2065-2070 as per the government’s plan, and NEO will be the Sub EPC contractor for the Solar Orchestra Project.

“This collaboration among Thailand’s leading corporations offers an all-in-one package to Thai business owners who wish to lower their electricity bills, including solar rooftop installation for self-generated energy. The project’s participants will also be entitled to tax benefits from the Thailand Board of Investment (BOI), special financial support streams, as well as carbon credit privileges,” said Mrs. Rosaya.

The project also promotes carbon credit trading, which offers several benefits, such as reporting the Carbon Footprint for Organization in the annual report as part of the company’s sustainability efforts. Therefore, selecting the most efficient renewable energy technology for the project is of utmost importance, and CHPP’s experience in the field qualifies us to offer customized designs of solar rooftop, solar floating and energy management systems and installation for businesses that are interested in clean energy.”
