GPSC joins hands with Rayong Industrial Estate Technical College to kick off EV One Stop Service, boosting the potential of technicians and preparing for the rapid growth of EV industry

30 Jan 2024

GPSC joins hands with Rayong Industrial Estate Technical College to launch the first pilot project “EV One Stop Service” in Rayong Province, with an aim to equip the teachers and the students with skills and expertise related to the maintenance services for electric motorcycles, the number of which has increased recently; and meanwhile, to support them in terms of professional development so that they can generate additional income. The project is also intended to open a solar charging station for electric vehicles with the installation of 5.5 KW-rooftop solar panels, promoting the use of future vehicles in line with the targets of sustainable business and Net Zero Emissions by 2060.

Mrs. Prinda Ma-Imjai, Acting Executive Vice President Corporate Services of Global Power Synergy Public Company Limited or GPSC, the innovative power flagship of PTT Group, revealed that, on 30 January 2024, GPSC, in cooperation with Rayong Industrial Estate Technical College, Rayong Province, organized the opening ceremony of the project “EV One Stop Service”, designated for electric motorcycle repair and installation of a solar charging station for electric vehicle in order to support the continued expansion of electric vehicles. In addition, the project is intended to transfer knowledge and increase skills of the teachers and the students there, which will be conducted by GPSC's electrical engineering experts, so as to promote careers and generate income for them. At the meantime, the project is also expected to reduce air pollution and maintain pleasant environments, which is consistent with GPSC's goals to achieve Net Zero Emissions by 2060 and create sustainability for both environment and society.

Mr. Weerachai Sombatkamrai, Director of Rayong Industrial Estate Technical College, said that the incessant growth in the use of electric motorcycles among Rayong people has resulted in necessity for the maintenance of such vehicles as well as the replacement of batteries, of which the prices are quite high. Therefore, it is projected that the establishment of the one-stop electric motorcycle repair center can accommodate the said maintenance services, reduce the communities’ cost burden, and promote the use of electric vehicles. Thus, the college decided to cooperate with GPSC to set up the aforementioned one-stop service center, which is believed to also help the college students enhance their technical potential in various fields, create knowledge outside the classroom, and further extend education in the area of electric vehicles. This is all for these students to generate their income in the future as well.

In order to power the electric motorcycle repair center, located under the mechanic's building, and two solar charging stations, located next to the repair center and in front of Quinine Café, GPSC has installed 10 solar panels on the roof of the administration building, with the total capacity of 5.5 KW. Furthermore, GPSC has provided helpful support in terms of innovations and knowledge, and sent for the experts acting as mentors throughout the project operation. The project will be the first model of skill development for the vocational students in Rayong Province, providing several services in terms of advice, maintenance, battery replacement, and electric motorcycle parts or equipment such as brake pads, tyres, electrical systems, display systems, control units, etc. Not only that, this project can prepare the personnel of this field to support the technologies for electric vehicle industry, and raise awareness among communities and stakeholders about the long-term benefits of electric vehicles that the government has always been promoting. Most importantly, the project will play an important role in the protection of environment and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, which is also in line with the organization's and the country's ultimate goal to move towards Net Zero Emissions.
