On 26 February 2024, Mr. Panpree Phitthanukorn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Ms. Pattarat Hongtong, Ambassador of Thailand to India in New Delhi, along with the team from Thailand, visited the Bikaner Project, the world's largest solar energy project with the capacity of 1,246 MW in Bikaner, Rajasthan, India. On this occasion, Mr. Pailin Chuchottaworn, Chairman of the Board, and Mr. Worawat Pittayasiri, Chief Executive Officer and President, as well as the GPSC executive team, gave the warm welcome to the group. The Bikaner Project has been implemented with cutting-edge technologies with the huge investment of more than 40 billion Indian rupees (or approximately 500 million US dollars). The project is also a joint venture between Global Power Synergy Public Company Limited or GPSC, an innovative power flagship of PTT Group, and Avaada Energy Private Limited (AEPL) of Avaada Group, a leading renewable energy business operator in India. Currently, AEPL is growing dramatically after winning the bid for several solar power projects in India, aiming to achieve the targeted capacity of 11 GW in 2026. This is in line with the Indian government’s policy to produce more electricity from clean energy; and of course, it is also corresponding to the ultimate goal of Thailand and GPSC to head towards the green society that is friendly to the environment.
