GPSC teams up with RE-FTI Club to kick off the project “Kon Mee Fai” Year 2, inviting non-profit organizations and government agencies to apply for funding by 10 April 2024

01 Mar 2024

GPSC and RE-FTI Club have invited both government agencies and social organizations to apply for funding in the project “Kon Mee Fai” Year 2, which is established to provide clean energy from solar power and meanwhile help reduce the energy costs so that the money saved from the project can be used to develop the communities nearby. Thereby, any interested organizations can apply for this project from now on until 10 April 2024. It is projected that the total installed capacity of 500 kW shall be achieved within 5 years, and this cooperation can prompt all sectors to pay more attention to the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions and the sustainability of society and environment.

Mrs. Prinda Ma-Imjai, Executive Vice President Corporate Services of Global Power Synergy Public Company Limited or GPSC, the innovative power flagship of PTT Group, revealed that GPSC has joined hands with the Renewable Energy Industry Club, Federation of Thai Industries (RE-FTI Club), to kick off the project “Kon Mee Fai” Year 2 after successfully implementing this project last year. The objective of this project is to provide an access to clean energy innovations and supply clean energy from on-grid solar system to the qualified organizations among the government agencies and non-profit organizations in the sectors of  education, public health, natural resources, and environment. It is expected that the money derived from the reduction of electricity costs would be employed to benefit the communities nearby in a sustainable manner according to the 5-year project implementation plan (2023- 2027). So far, the project has already completed the first installation of 100 kW, with the target of total installed capacity of 500 kW upon the end of the project in 2027. In this regard, it is expected that the total cost of the project will be around 20 million baht and it is believed to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 6,900 tons of carbon dioxide equivalents.

The project “Kon Mee Fai” Year 2 is opened particularly for the government agencies and non-profit organizations operating in the sectors of education, public health, natural resources, and environment, with the maximum installed capacity of 30 kW per site. The qualified candidates must propose plans which identify how they will use the money, derived from the reduction in electricity costs on monthly basis, to develop the communities nearby. The qualified agencies or organizations can contact for additional information via Email: gpsc.csr@gmail.com or Tel/Line-id: 097-150-5161 during 1 March - 10 April 2024. The selection result will be announced on 1 May 2024, followed by a site survey and the system installation, which is expected to be completed by December 2024.

The project was highly successful in the first year with a total of 42 organizations applied for funding, and five of which were selected with a total capacity of approximately 106 kW. The selected organizations included 1) Ubon Ratchathani University Science Park (30 kW), 2) Nakhonsawan College of Agriculture and Technology (30 kW), 3) The Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine Hospital, Regional Health Office 8, Udon Thani Province (20 kW), 4) The Press Association of Thailand under the Royal Patronage of His Majesty the King (20 kW), and 5) The Foundation for Environment, Community Enterprise Nameunsri Cloth Weaving Group, Trang Province (6 kW).

The aforementioned project is recognized as a collaboration that will pave ways to the development of clean and environmentally friendly energy at community level by means of modern technologies and innovations. The energy development system in this project can help reduce energy costs, and at the meantime, the project is said to promote the learning in terms of energy in all sectors. Above all, this is considered a model of cooperation and contribution from all sectors in energy conservation, focusing mainly on the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions and the sustainable preservation of environment.
