GPSC has expanded its investment through the acquisition of a 9.375% stake in RPCL, an IPP power plant from JERA Group and Toyota Tsusho Corporation. This transaction will increase GPSC’s ownership from 15% to 24.38%.

Mrs. Panporn Sasananan, Chief Financial Officer of Global Power Synergy Public Company Limited or GPSC, the innovative power flagship of PTT Group stated that GPSC signed the share transaction agreement to increase investment proportion in Ratchaburi Power Company Limited (RPCL), a major Independent Power Producer (IPP) with an installed capacity of 1,400 MW, utilizing natural gas as its primary fuel. The ownership stakes were originally held by 2 entities, Chubu Electric Power Company International B.V. (Chubu), fully owned by JERA, and Toyota Tsusho Corporation (TTC). The total stakes are 6,867,187 shares, equivalent to 9.375% of RPCL’s issued and outstanding shares, . The ownership transaction has been increased GPSC’s stake in RPCL to 24.38% and become a GPSC’s affiliate.

The RPCL share acquisition is to expand the equity capacity of 131 MW, in accordance with GPSC’s shareholding proportion. This investment will deliver immediate returns as well as strengthening GPSC’s overall shareholding structure. Additionally, RPCL is recognized as an efficient power plant under a long-term power purchase agreement with the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT). 

This stake transaction is in accordance with the resolution of the company's Board of Directors to proceed with business development under the strategic plan to restructure investment project management for greater alignment with the company's business direction. The focus is on creating added value from assets to maximize long-term benefits for the Company and its shareholders.
