GPSC enhances efficiency across 12 power generation units advancing Decarbonization Roadmap, reducing CO₂ emissions and LNG imports toward Net Zero by 2050

08 Apr 2026

GPSC has unveiled its Decarbonization plan, highlighting progress across 12 power generation units. The initiative has achieved energy savings of up to 419,476 million BTU, reduced LNG imports by more than 8,000 tons per year, and generated cost savings of approximately THB 150 million annually. The company is also advancing collaborations with partners to explore and develop innovative energy solutions, including SMR power plants, CCS technology, and hydrogen. These efforts aim to strengthen energy security, support sustainable business growth, and drive the transition toward Net Zero Emissions by 2050.

Mr. Sirimet Leepagorn, President and Acting Chief Operating Officer of Global Power Synergy Public Company Limited or GPSC, the innovative power flagship of the PTT Group, stated that the company is committed to improving power generation efficiency through the integration of advanced technologies and clean energy innovations. These efforts aim to ensure stable electricity and steam generation while reducing carbon emissions in line with the company’s Decarbonization Roadmap. In 2025, GPSC successfully reduced its carbon intensity by 10%, progressing toward its target of a 35% reduction by 2030 and Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

As part of its operational excellence strategy, GPSC has implemented 12 efficiency improvement projects across its power plants. These initiatives have reduced LNG imports by 8,066 tons per year, equivalent to energy savings of 419,476 million BTU, generating cost savings of approximately THB 150 million. The projects also reduced greenhouse gas emissions by 22,420 tons of CO₂ equivalent, while mitigating risks associated with LNG price volatility amid geopolitical uncertainties, particularly in the Middle East. Furthermore, GPSC has advanced its digital transformation by deploying Real-Time Optimization systems powered by AI and digital technologies. These systems enhance power plant operation planning, improve overall efficiency, and enable real-time monitoring of equipment performance, ensuring comprehensive data management. The company has also developed proprietary software to optimize electricity and steam generation planning. In addition, GPSC continues to strengthen collaboration between its operations and maintenance teams to optimize plant performance and align maintenance shutdown schedules with operational requirements. This approach enhances resilience against energy crises and reinforces the stability of its power generation system.

Looking ahead, GPSC remains committed to continuously improving power plant efficiency while expanding its renewable energy portfolio both domestically and internationally. The company is also actively studying and developing advanced clean energy technologies, including Small Modular Reactors (SMR), Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS), and hydrogen energy solutions. These initiatives are expected to not only enhance energy security but also support competitive electricity pricing, while enabling industrial customers and Thailand to collectively achieve Net Zero Emissions in the future.
