GPSC reports 12% profit growth in H1/2026, driven by surging industrial demand and strong hydropower performance; announces THB 0.55 interim dividend and gears up for investments under new PDP

07 Aug 2026

GPSC reported a net profit of THB 3,538 million for the first six months of 2026, marking a 12% increase from the same period last year. This growth reflects the strength of its Small Power Producer (SPP) business, fueled by rising demand for electricity and steam from industrial customers, coupled with the continued strong performance of hydropower plants in Lao PDR and reduced financial costs. The Board of Directors has also approved an interim dividend payment of THB 0.55 per share.

Mr. Worawat Pitayasiri, Chief Executive Officer of Global Power Synergy Public Company Limited (GPSC), the innovative power flagship of PTT Group, revealed that the company's operating results for the first six months of 2026 showed a net profit of THB 3,538 million, a 12% increase year-on-year. This was driven by the improved performance of the Small Power Producer (SPP) business in response to higher electricity and steam demand from industrial customers, along with lower fuel costs compared to the previous year and diversified fuel management. Additionally, the Xayaburi (XPCL) and Houay Ho (HHPC) hydropower plants in Lao PDR delivered strong performances due to consistently good water levels. Meanwhile, the company's ongoing focus on efficient financial management has resulted in lower financial costs.

For the second quarter of 2026, the company posted a net profit of THB 1,819 million, a 6% increase from the previous quarter. This was supported by robust core operations, particularly the GHECO-One power plant, which resumed full operations this quarter following the completion of planned maintenance and efficiency improvements in Q1/2026. Furthermore, Glow IPP and HHPC saw higher electricity sales volumes in line with EGAT's dispatch instructions. The SPP business was also bolstered by increased electricity and steam demand from industrial customers amid improved market conditions. Additionally, the share of profit from investments in associates and joint ventures was positively impacted by the performance of Avaada Energy Private Limited (AEPL) due to seasonal factors and the commercial operation of new capacity. As a result, total commercial capacity reached 7,256 megawatts at the end of Q2/2026.

Driven by solid operations and consistently strong cash flow, the Board of Directors approved an interim dividend payment from the operating results of the first six months of 2026 at the rate of THB 0.55 per share. The Record Date for shareholders entitled to receive the dividend is scheduled for August 20, 2026, with the dividend payment to be made on September 3, 2026. This reflects the company's strong financial position and its commitment to consistently generating appropriate returns for shareholders.

Looking ahead, GPSC continues to drive sustainable growth through operational enhancement, investment portfolio management, and the expansion of clean energy businesses both domestically and internationally. The company is well-prepared to seize opportunities from the new Power Development Plan (PDP) by building on the potential of existing power plants, including contract renewals and production efficiency upgrades—alongside developing clean energy projects and energy infrastructure. These efforts aim to meet the growing demand for electricity, particularly from Data Centers and industries of the future, which will be a key driver for long-term growth.
