On 9 August 2021, Mr. Narongchai Visutrachai, Senior Vice President - Government Relations and Public Affairs of Global Power Synergy Public Company Limited or GPSC, the innovative power flagship of PTT Group, presented a monetary donation of two million baht to Dr. Wannee Chinsirikul, Executive Director of the National Nanotechnology Center, the National Science and Technology Development Agency or NSTDA, GPSC’s partner in social innovation, to help fund the development of NANO COVID-19 rapid antigen test kits (Professional use). The specially developed kits are easy to use, can give a test result within 15 minutes, and, therefore, are suitable for mass screening, reducing the need for RT-PCR (Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction) tests, which takes up to 24 to 48 hours to give a result. As only positive antigen test results require confirmatory RT-PCR testing, unnecessary public health-related costs and workload can be avoided. The test kits, a self-reliant innovation that will enhance Thailand’s public health security, have been approved by the Food and Drug Administration and will be available at a competitive price.

The presentation ceremony was held at the National Nanotechnology Center, NSTDA in Pathum Thani.
