Combined Heat and Power Producing Co.,Ltd (CHPP), a subsidiary of GPSC pushed start on the commercial operation date (COD) to supply the electricity of CHPP Solar Cooperatives on December 30, 2016 after all construction and testing process were completed as the government planned.

Dr.Toemchai Bunnag, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Global Power Synergy Public Company Limited or GPSC, an electricity and utility producer flagship of PTT group, said the project to develop CHPP Solar Cooperatives with the Shrimp Farmers Cooperatives in Chanthaburi Province was ready to start the commercial operation and had supplied the electricity to the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) since December 30, 2016. CHPP is a company which is 100% owned by GPSC and CHPP Solar Cooperatives has installed capacity of 5 megawatts. It is located on a 75 rai of land in Na Yai Arm district in Chanthaburi Province.

“After we finished the construction, ran the First Synchronization on December 19, 2016 and the test has been running perfectly. Then we have granted a permission from related authorities to go on with the plan. As a result, we are able to start producing electricity and connect to the grid on December 30, 2016.” said Dr.Toemchai.

CHPP was selected under the government scheme to encourage cooperatives to develop solar farms. The company has submitted the plan to run a 5 megawatt solar farm on a 75 rai in Na Yai Arm in Chanthaburi. The plan was approved by the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) which is scheduled for the commercial operation date (COD) on December 30, 2016.

“This is a successful project which we have completed it and started producing the electricity on time as it was planned. This project would help to create sustainable rising revenue for 25 years under the power purchasing agreement (PPA). At the same time, it is a major progressive step we have made to work with the government to generate the renewable energy for the country. Moreover it is also a project that is taken part by the local community that will help generate returns to them as well.” said Dr.Toemchai.
